Lake Nicol Paddle Fest

The City of Tuscaloosa’s water department is celebrating National Lakes Appreciation Month throughout July with events and activities at Lake Tuscaloosa, Lake Nicol, and Harris Lake. Officials hope the month encourages residents to enjoy the lakes through fishing, paddling, hiking, and family recreation while recognizing their importance to the community. A highlight of the celebration is the inaugural Lake Nicol Paddle Fest on July 18, presented in partnership with Tuscaloosa Paddleboards and Mountain High Outfitters. The free event features a timed 3-mile race, a 3-mile Fun Float, and a relaxed 1-mile paddle for participants of all skill levels, with a limited number of complimentary paddleboard rentals available. Spectators can watch the paddling events from the Outer Cliff Trail, and advance online registration is required.
