The 18th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser benefiting the Table of Grace food pantry will take place March 25 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Grace Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa. Guests can make a $25 donation to enjoy a simple meal of soup, bread, and water, live entertainment, and take home a handcrafted bowl created by local artisans and University of Alabama ceramics students. Proceeds support Table of Grace, a client-choice, market-style pantry that serves about 900 households each month while emphasizing dignity, choice, and reduced food waste. Local restaurants, church members, and volunteers will provide a variety of soups, including vegan and vegetarian options, with music performed by Jil Chambliss and Dan Vogt of the Vulcan Eejits. Organizers hope the event raises awareness of hunger in the community while helping provide months of food assistance for families, seniors, and veterans in need.
